Day 2-April 8 2011 -It's snowing on our parade

Wake up and we don’t hear any more rain then open the door to snow covered cars but heh it’s the Clydesdales and we are doing EFI ( every F---in Inch).

So we depart with every piece of clothing we own at 9:30. We catch a break and the snow stops. Today’s route is 29 miles and 1500 feet of climbing. But it is 34 degrees and we are doing 35 miles an hour on the down hills- that’s a wind chill of 21 degrees.

The weather is such a surprise even the news people are out taking pictures for the evening news.

They  interview us as we ride by. Stan , Walt, Rizzy, Cathy and Steve complete the day with unbelievable support from the rest of the clydes, hot chocolate delivered at the peaks and the chalk fairy ( Joan) is there to encourage us at every step.  As we approach Jacumba we can see Mexico and the US Gov’t’s  shiny new fence.  Rizzy and Cathy get chased by a dog which in later renditions has morphed into a timberwolf.  We arrive at the Jacumba spa chilled to the bone but there is a whirlpool spa and massages for everyone followed by cocktails at Doug and Robin’s.   But todays big news el camello ( Steve) fixed his first flat in the snow at 35 degrees- go Camel.  After dinner it's off to the bar for a going away celebration for betsy who sings some favorite songs like " Over the rainbow" to a sold out audience.  We meet March a fellow traveller on the southern tier  who happens to paly guitar and knows our entier set list, and he's about 30 -go figure.
