5:30 wake up call and packed all the vehicles for a shuttle to Ocean Beach(OB) and a dip of the wheels in the water and then on the road at 8:30 and as we promised you the misadventures begin.
Somewhere on the tortuous path out of San Diego we lose a rider ( Kenny where are you) and a purse ( Julie , Julie, Julie).  El Blanco ( Stan) misses a step at the 7-11  and really sprains his ankle, El bis abuelo ( Walt) manages to break  an-anatomica seat  that is actually labeled ” Clydesdale”.  That’s all by the 25 mile mark and then the real fun begins, 4000 feet of climbing, wind at our back and about a 4% grade,  oh yea we’ll take that every time.  By end of the day  we had done 53 miles and 5303 ft of climbing.  We end in the town of Pine Valley at the Pine Valley Inn.
All riders are in by 3:30  and we immediately tended to El Blanco’s wounded ankle – check out our approach-first heal the mind (with wine) and the body will follow (with Ibuprophen).
Off to a great dinner at Calvin’s where we bust into a 2006 Magnum of Walt and Steve’s Transamerica Cabernet Sauvignon along with several other tasty wines. Back to the hotel for a night cap and to try out our latest musical instrument – yes folks we’re bringing a Tambourine along with the guitars. We go to bed with ominous reports of rain and snow on the way-yikes.

Wild start, hopefully the weather will be less extreme soon. Good work!
