Day 58 the clydes with their angels
Angels on the highway voices in the wind telling me we may never pass this way again.
Day 58 DONE!!!!
3000+ miles and 80,000 feet of climbing and 58 days and 4 tired but elated clydesdales dip their tires in the beautiful sand at anastasia park beach.
Day 58 Flora and Fauna
It's not road kill. Yes folks this is a real live water mocassin aka cotton mouth. Walt found this guy crawling in a drainage ditch. Earlier in the day he spotted a river otter in a similar swale.
Day 58. The chalk fairies are back
We are at Molasses Junction and come across some words of encouragement 3000 miles from home.

Hope you're not eating. Talk about pain management. Looks like a croquet court in downtown Joplin.

We have our own approach to pain mgt. As you might imagine it involves yeast products.

Who knew that FL was a major producer of potatos. We even pass through a town called Spud.

Don is spearheading a multi year program to develop some great bike trails for Palatka and we loved his bumper sticker"share the road with bikes..give them 5 feet ...it's the law"
Day 58 Corky's the scene of last nights party
Ok our waitress threw us under the bus. Bernie and Joan show up last night and we ask for one more round of Meyers( we drank 2 bottles) and OJ and she informs them that they are out of Meyers and Mount Gay and we show her our shocked face.

Day 57 Reggae on the river( the river is the st. Johns in. FL.)
This one is is for my daughter Sarah( the new nana) Lots of bob marley for the clydes.
Day 57 we all have reservations about the southern tiee
The clydes are legend in their own minds. Corkys treats us well and speaking of well drinks.
Day 57 the celebrity table
We all switched to GEICO base on this guy climbing down our umbrella. Love to all you guys who followed us on this crazy journey. We felt the love and it got us through some tough spots.
Day 57 chateau du former selves
The clydes are living in the moment of the last day. Reggae band playin on the patio of the st. Johns river. Great food and a Tiki bar ( eat your heart out doug)
Day 57 Sharky is back
We're getting close to the ocean and it appears that's all he needed. We gave him one last swim in the pool tomorrow it's the atlantic ocean
Day 57 last night on the road
The clydes check into a holiday inn express and pose for a group photo in todays uniform ...the classic clyde kit...look for the southern crossing jerseys for our last day on the southern tier
Day 57 gator country
We are on the lookout for gators. At dinner last night they reported a 500 lb bear and 7 foot Gator had been spotted on the trail last week. All we saw was a white tail deer and a wild turkey.
Day 57 Gainesville to Palatka
60 miles and 98 degrees but we start out with 17 miles of the beautiful Gainesville-Hawthorne bike trail.

Yogi strikes again something about this droid camera phone that always confuses him.
Day 56 afterdinner wine tasting
Rob invites us to their home for a wine tasting. We realize that it has been a few weeks (NOLA) since we've had good wine. Their friends Rob and Angie help us taste our way through 3 wonderful reds.
Day 57 dinner with new friends
Rob and Melissa are Boyd Winery wine club members. They contacted us and Rob picked us up toured us around town and then brought us to one of his favorite restaurants downtown...Tops. Great ribs,meatloaf,shrimp and BEER.

Day 56 two open pro mavic rims in 2 days...same failure
These bikes have done so well but they just don't want to cooperate for the last 150 miles.
Day 56 serious bike problems
GATOR cycles in Gainesville ...todays road angels. Late Tues. night Brad orders a new wheel for Rizzy and a new rim for Walt ..they are shipped overnight and JD laces a new wheel for Walt and replaces front spoke for Rizzy and it is all done by 5 on Wed. Thanks to the Gator cycling team!!!
Day 56 clyde pool rules
Ok we've seen a lot of pools and a lot of rules...see if you can pick out the real ones
1. No popping in the pool
2. No drinking the pool water
3. If you are wearing diapers or depends be sure they fit tightly
4. No diving
5. No bringing your pets in the pool
6. No drinking SB or beer in the pool
7.No prewashing your bike jerseys in the pool before washing in the bath tub
8. No cannonballs with iphones in your pocket
9.Only one dip in the pool per transam crossing
10. No more than 4 clydesdales per pool per day
11. Papa don't allow no guitar playing round the pool
12. No great grandpas in the pool
Day 56 Clydes in their summer whites
The clydes Saddle up to the bar at Miller's ale house while we wait for our bikes to be made whole again. Check it out......our haberdasher Steve has developed a uniform of the day for our last 3 days.
Day 56 It's a fact ..beautiful women just love the clydesdales
Yes this is the proof. Alexandra works for ABC channel 20 and saw these 4 studs on the road and thought what a great story for the Gainesville 6 o'clock news. So go on line and check it out.
Of course our favorite beautiful women are preparing to fly out and meet us in the next few days.
Day 56 Spanish Moss and Rizzy
He has a special affinity for this particular flora.but always remembers to warn us about the chiggers...just don't roll in it!!
Day 56 Off route and busshwacking our way to Gainesville
Stan and Walt cooperate to plot a fast route to the bike shop. But of course on the way lots of interesting hysterical monuments. This one commemorates a early spanish mission that provisioned corn and cane.for st augustine and Cuba.
Day 56 Lake City to Gainesville
Ok 3 days to go and our steeds have had it. Rizzy and walt have rear rims that are disintegrating walt has a bad seat post and rizzy's rear tire is missing some important rubber. Gator cycles has agreed to be our bicycle hospital. JT will rebuild our wheels ...the steeds will get some new shoes. Now about this armadillo...it's kind or disappoint cause Steve's head wound is much worse than thisand he is still pedalling on.
