Day 38 Rest Day Birchwood Lakes WI

Cobblestone B&B. Great breakfast. Rented a pontoon boat and spent a lazy afternoon cruising Birch Lake. Tomorrow starts second half of the journey.

Day 37 Glidden to Birchwood Lakes

84 miles 2100 ft.  Beautiful day, mostly smooth roads, great breakfast with Owner Karen At the Bruin. This bear is about size of one Zach saw yesterday. We hit 2000 miles and celebrate. George exploring a cranberry bog.

Day 36 Boulder Junction to Glidden

64 miles 1000 ft. Windy and drizzle( rain for some). Again not many pics , some more heads down riding with Zach. But great trail out of town and Z. Spotted a bear on way into Glidden. No pics but he was near these flowers.

Day 35 crystal Falls to Boulder Junction

84 miles 3200 ft. Zach and Barb, Wisconsin natives, joined us for this part of ride. Not many pics cause Walt and Zach put the hammer down. We all met at 30 mile mark as we transitioned into Wisconsin, our 6th state.

Day 35 Crystal Falls MI to Boulder Junction WI

84 miles 3200 ft. Walt and Zach were out playing all day. Nasty headwinds. Drafting and sprinting all day. Lots of fun but not many pics. We entered  Wisconsin,our 6th state at 30 mile mark.

Day 34 Escanaba to Crystal Falls

80 miles 2000ft. Our first Our Lady of Bathtub.  Changing time zones. Found the town we should end up in SAGola. FBonR was Infield Sports Bar  with free pizza.  Zach and Barb arrive to escort us through Wisconsin. Letter from home was much appreciated. Steve meets mother of all Chicken Pot Pies.

Day 33 Mantisque to Escanaba 68 mile 675 ft

Pictures worth 1000 words. Route 2 all day, noisy, debris, rumble strips . George road fully loaded.

Day 31 Mackinaw Island to Naubinway UP MI 52 miles 700 ft

Took ferry to St. Ignace,Angel Bernie to the ferry to Napa. Found our namesake drive-in, Walt stopped for his first Pasty.

Day 30 Rest Day Mackinaw Island

Lots of massages, some light 8 mile  bike rides around the island. Music on the green

Day 29 Ellsworth to Mackinaw City 73/88 miles 1300 ft

Much of day on beautiful Little Traverse Wheelway. Took us through Petowskey and Harbor Springs as well as the Tunnel of Trees. Today was in the running for best ride of the trip.Finished off with ferry ride to Mackinac Island, in  the straits between Lakes Michigan and Huron

Day 28 Interlochen to Ellsworth/East Jordan 72 miles 2000 ft

Nice ride along torch lake. Temp in mid 80's and hills at end. East Jordan is manhole capital of the world.

Day 27 Luther to Interlochen 58 miles 1200ft

Angel Bernie joins the trip for Fathers Day. Great cabin on the lake. Lunner at Traverse City Boat House Restaurant with Stupid expensive appetizers. Growlers live at Interlochen that night.

Day 26 Care to Luther 64 miles 1800 ft

Maple bacon bars from cops and donuts cafe. Amish farmer out to cultivate corn. Everything is better with cows around. And finally "Loggers Landing" the first bar on the right.
